Chana Masala is an everyday dish from Indian cuisine. “Chana” translates as chickpeas. The spice set is simple even outside of India. Usually the dish is prepared from fried onions, garlic and ginger with the addition of chickpeas and a set of spices. Spices include chili pepper, coriander, cumin, turmeric and garam masala. Chopped tomatoes are added for density and density. Tomatoes and chickpeas can be used canned. Chickpeas can also be dried, then they are soaked overnight and then boiled for at least one hour. Ingredients:

Cumin seeds — 1 tablespoon
Coriander seeds — 1 tablespoon
White onion — 180 grams (1 onion)
Garlic — 5 cloves
Grated ginger — 1 teaspoon
Frying oil — 4 tablespoons
Chopped tomatoes — 400 grams
Water — 400 ml
Chickpeas — 220 grams
Chili pepper — 1 pod
Ground turmeric — 1 teaspoon
Salt to taste
Coriander leaves – a bunch
Masala — 1 teaspoon

Directions:

1. Heat cumin and coriander seeds in a frying pan over medium heat for 5 minutes. Stir all the time. This will give flavor to the seeds.
2. Finely chop onion and garlic.
3. Grind cumin and coriander seeds in a mortar.
4. Peel chili peppers from seeds and partitions. Finely chop.
5. Heat the frying oil over medium heat.
6. Add the onion to the pan and fry for 5 minutes.
7. Add ginger and garlic. Stir and cook for 2 minutes.
8. Add chopped tomatoes, cumin, coriander, turmeric. Mix it up. Cook for 2-3 minutes.
9. Add water, chickpeas, salt, chopped chili pepper, coriander leaves. Cook for 10 minutes.
10. Add masala. Reduce the heat to a minimum. Cover with a lid. Cook for 5 minutes.
Serving: Serve the dish hot, garnished with coriander leaves.
